Why I Started Mirror Moments
Samantha FelgoiseI started Mirror Moments because I was so tired of looking in the mirror and only seeing what was wrong. These tees are the pep talk I wish I'd had in so many critical vulnerable moments in the mirror that were a make or break for how that day went.
I knew the power of positive self-talk, I was (and still am) obsessed with self love podcasts, books, and writing affirmations. I literally put sticky notes on my desk that said “you got this,”“be where your feet are,” and a few other motivating phrases, but it didn’t keep me out of my head.
One of my friends even had a sticky note with her fave affirmations on it on her bathroom mirror, and I loved it so much, it made me smile when I looked at it. Naturally I took a picture (more like 7 hahah here are some)

I had the idea of starting a positive t-shirt brand for a while, at least for 4 years. I remember telling my friend in like 2021, I want to start a t-shirt company, and call it “positivitees” or something, because I need, and I'm sure we could all use a little more positivity in our day to day.
I love a pun, so “positivitees” felt natural. It is already a brand, so that was a no for me, and as my idea evolved, the name didn’t feel as natural anymore, rather a little too silly for what I wanted to bring to life.
I craved a brand that was thoughtful but approachable (because self-love is important), simple (because self-love is simple, even when it feels complicated), and warm (because we deserve to feel supported, not criticized)
As much as I love a pun, alliterations are also a fave word play, and I was thinking about how a mirror can be a friend, rather than an enemy.
I have a few t-shirts with positive phrases that I love, and that make me feel so good, but when I look in the mirror they are backwards, and not really for me. I know what I'm putting on, but when I'm wearing it doesn't create the same feeling.
It all started to click...
Instead of just pointing out “imperfections” the mirror, or at least looking in it, has the power to remind us how amazing, beautiful, strong, and confident (to name a few things) we are!
I know I trained myself to look for the things that “need fixing” in the mirror, but what if there's a reminder right there, in the way, that blocks me from this pattern. That redirects me to see something that would make me feel good.
Enter, mirror moments.
I have been pretty much obsessed with owning my moment, for as long as i can remember (see the journey to mirror moments here which tracks my past decade + of self love) and when the idea for backwards affirmations on a white tee, came to me, I couldn't resist.
My goal with mirror moments is to encourage as many women as possible to feel more confidence, self love, and positive self talk in everyday moments, especially when we are our most vulnerable in the mirror.
Here’s to more self love, one affirmation tee at a time <3
With love,
Sam
